Kim is an abstract and representational artist, working primarily in acrylic on cradled wood panel.
She creates paintings with visual texture that invites you into the piece, and begs to be explored with more than just your sight. This is overlayed with a single image, something that has caught her eye that may be overlooked by most, making it the star and welcoming the viewer into her way of observing the world.
Recently, Kim has been inspired by asphalt; the way it connects us, the way the aggregate within it is informed by the location, and how the condition of it is a reflection of the care we are putting into our communities.
Previous collections have been inspired by the elements, the lunar calendar, lighthouses, trees, and modern florals.
Kim has previously exhibited her work at the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, McMaster Innovation Park, Paris Bohemian Gallery, Taren White Gallery, Blue Dog Cafe, as well as various corporate displays and juried group shows. She is currently one of four artists chosen for the 2024- 2025 Artists Incubator Program, an 8 month residency and mentorship with the Glenhyrst Art Gallery in Brantford.
